Hi guys, I want to get into PRS, and at the moment I’m using a .223 with 73g ELD’s. I’m assuming the better calibre to use would be a 6mm or 6.5cre. Is there anything I can achieve with that calibre?

    Cheers

Will be a viable contender out to mid range distance but anything much past 600 yards and it will require more skill to keep hitting the targets. Another problem that meeds to be considered is that in many PRL venues the targets are not backed by a sand backstop so seeing where your round impacts off the target is very difficult with small calibre light bullets.

Thanks for replying, but is the 6.5cre the most popular round or is the .308 still going strong?

.308 is still going strong with a large choice of ammo almost everywhere.
But, unless you develop your own load, the cheaper stuff runs out of steam at about 1250yds!

I’m running a .308 Ruger PR and at Eskdalemuir 1300yds required a lot of work.
